Areos is an Old School RuneScape private server that keeps the OSRS base intact and then builds outward from it, which is exactly what its own tagline claims. The familiar skills, combat and interfaces are there, and so is the OSRS boss list, but the server adds its own bosses, its own quests and best in slot weapons that do not exist in the official game. It is free to play and mobile ready, and the team ships updates weekly.

Rather than pick one pace and force everyone into it, Areos runs three difficulty modes that differ in both experience and drop rate. Hard mode sits at 2x experience with bigger drops, close to authentic OSRS rates. Medium runs at 20x with a 4 percent drop bonus. Easy runs at 45x for players who want to reach the content without the grind. A hardcore mode is available on top of that for players who want the permadeath framing.

Progression continues past maxed stats through a dual prestige system covering both combat and skilling, with skill trees attached, plus more than 35 sacrifice perks. The endgame is PvM heavy, with the two OSRS raids and a long boss list, supported by an active player economy and a rolling event calendar of tournaments, drop parties and double experience weekends.
