Type: Ultima Online Private Server

Dawn is a custom pre AOS shard running on RunUO, built for players who remember Ultima Online when it was harder and want that difficulty back rather than smoothed away. The central design choice is that NPCs do not buy or sell: they train skills and hand out bulk order deeds, and every other transaction goes through player vendors. There is no repair either, so anything of use has to be crafted or harvested and gear is a consumable rather than a permanent investment. The result the shard is aiming for is a real economy and a real need for other people, where a character's skills reflect the role its owner actually wants to play instead of trying to cover everything alone.

The shard runs pre AOS era mechanics with a 125 stat cap and a 300 total cap, and no skill cap on top of that. Death carries consequences and the world is deliberately harder than a modern shard, with hand spawned regions and boss encounters rather than a uniformly scaled map. Houses decay after a year, and the shard states that useful, rewarding content exists at every skill level rather than only at the top.

Player Driven Economy: NPCs neither buy nor sell, so player vendors carry the whole market and prices are set by players.
No Repair: Equipment cannot be repaired, which keeps crafters in demand and makes gear a running cost rather than a one time purchase.
Craft and Harvest: Everything of use on the shard is either craftable or harvestable, so the supply chain runs through players.
NPC Trainers and Bulk Orders: NPCs still train skills and issue bulk order deeds, which is what keeps them relevant without turning them into a shop.
Hand Spawned Content: Regions and boss encounters are hand spawned rather than generated, and the shard aims to keep rewarding content available at all skill levels.
House Decay: Houses decay after one year, so abandoned plots return to the map instead of freezing it.
