PokeRag is a Brazilian fan project that runs the Pokemon universe on top of the Ragnarok Online engine, and it has been in development since 2015. The team describes it as an online game with a fantasy theme based on the old Pokemon games, and states plainly that it is not a commercial product. The Ragnarok client is used as a shell, but the world inside it has been rebuilt with original maps, NPCs, mechanics and an economy of its own rather than reskinned RO content. The live world is called PokeRag Sapphire and spans content from several Pokemon generations, while a second server named HeartGold is in pre-registration and is aimed at a curated first-generation experience. What holds it together mechanically is a capture system, a ranked PvP ladder and a set of multiplayer modes that have no equivalent in either source game.

Ranked PvP: A ranked battle ladder with an ELO-style rating decides leaderboard standings and exclusive rewards.

Dual Server Roadmap: Running an established world alongside a pre-registering one is the team's stated way of serving veterans and newcomers at the same time.
