Server Overview

City of Heroes is the classic NCsoft superhero MMORPG built around deep character customization, archetypes, and team-based PvE through Paragon City. Thunderspy positions itself as the most heavily modified City of Heroes server, layering original powersets, expanded customization, and engine upgrades on top of the base game. It keeps a small, tight-knit community where the focus is constant updates and player-contributed content. The project is community-funded through Patreon to cover its monthly hosting costs.

Features

Character modes: Standard, Ironman (restricted trading, storage, and teaming), and Hardcore permadeath with death announcements.
Original powersets: Custom sets including Spectral Melee, Hard Life, Knights (medieval masterminds), and Tarantula Training.
Expanded character creator: Enhanced body and face sliders plus full color palette customization.
New costume pieces: NPC-derived parts (Rikti, Behemoth, Council), Freakshow weaponry, and invisible textures.
Dual auras: A dual-aura system with dedicated aura slots.
Pet customization: Costume customization for all pet-owning archetypes.
Personal apartments: Private instanced housing with storage and customization.
Free base editing: Unrestricted base building with no upkeep cost.
