Aion is NCSoft's faction-versus-faction fantasy MMORPG, built around aerial combat and the long Abyss war between the Elyos and the Asmodians, and Patch 4.6 is one of the versions the private-server scene keeps returning to because it sits after the class rebalances but before the later expansions thinned the world out. Aion Destiny runs that version with completeness as the stated goal rather than as a marketing line: skills, missions and quests are all meant to actually function, which is the failure point that sinks most 4.x emulators. On top of that base the team layers systems that were never in 4.6, so the server has somewhere to go once a player has finished the era's own content. Rates are left at retail x1, so the progression curve is the original one and the added systems are goals rather than accelerators.

Costumes from later patches: Cosmetic items from Aion versions after 4.6 have been imported, which widens the wardrobe without touching the era's balance.
