Payon Stories is a low-rate, pre-renewal Ragnarok Online private server built on the Hercules emulator, aiming for the vanilla feel of classic RO with a fresh twist of quality-of-life updates and careful class rebalancing. Progression stops at second job: there is no rebirth and no transcendent classes, so the whole game is played at base level 99 and job level 50. Instead of opening every map at once, the team releases content in its own progressive episodes, with storyline dungeons and a custom endless tower layered on the classic world. Multiclienting is not allowed, and donations only buy costume headgear and garments with no gameplay effect, which makes it a fit for players who want a fair, slow classic server.

The server runs pre-renewal mechanics with a custom, progressive episode release plan rather than a fixed official episode.
