Arkanis keeps the familiar older RuneScape client and replaces almost everything behind it with its own progression systems. A new account starts with a Treasure Map and an Adventurer's Book that route the early game, then climbs through gear tiers that each unlock behind a mix of Souls Task completions, raid clears and Essence Conversions. The content is built around PvM rather than PvP, with a full Slayer system, three raid tiers and a boss ladder that runs from Easy up to Sacred. The server is playable on desktop, Android and iOS, tablets included, through its own custom build of the client.

Arkanis runs on revision 317 as its base, and the owner lists it as fully custom and EOC rather than a faithful recreation of any single era. The old client is the shell, and the systems inside it are the server's own work.

Souls Tasks: Souls tasks award permanent stat buffs and unlock the ability to wear stronger gear, scaling from Easy up to Elite, and they stack with Slayer tasks so one kill can count twice.
Slayer System: A full Slayer system runs Easy, Hard and Mega tasks, with slayer points spent on unlocks including Infinite Prayer, the Slayer Helm, the Ring of Devotion, and damage and damage-reduction upgrades.
Raids: Raids 1, 2 and 3 cover multi-boss group PvM and can be run solo, as a group of four, or globally.
Essence System: Essence Conversions gate the jump between gear tiers, so tier progression is a deliberate step rather than a drop-luck event.
Blood Shards: A Blood Shard upgrade system sits alongside the tier chain as a separate gear improvement track.
Boss Tiers: Bosses are organised into tiers that scale from Easy through to Sacred, giving the PvM ladder a defined top end.
PVM Points: Killing bosses earns PVM Points, a dedicated currency separate from slayer points.
Townhall and Season Pass: A Townhall and a Season Pass carry the recurring reward track for players who log in regularly.
World Bosses: World bosses spawn every 30 minutes, so group content is on a short, predictable timer.
Live Events: Server-wide events such as double XP and double raid keys rotate hourly.
Anti-Scam Gambling: Gambling is handled through a server-side anti-scam system rather than trust trades.
In-Game Wiki: A wiki and guides ship inside the client, so the custom systems are documented where players actually need them.
