BasedWoW is an x1 Vanilla+ realm that launched on October 1 with a focus on world PvP, realism and staying close to Warcraft lore. The team says it has played Warcraft since 1999 and tried to tie as much of the design as possible back to Warcraft I to III, from race and class choices to racial abilities. Instead of a straight blizzlike copy, it gives players reasons to fight in the open world through quests with real rewards, contested towns that can be captured, and honor kills that grant reputation. It is built for players who want slow x1 leveling in a vanilla world reshaped around the RTS lore.

The realm runs on the vanilla 1.12.1 client with selected talents brought in from 3.3.5 and reworked specs.

World PvP Objectives: Quests reward defeating faction leaders, towns on contested territory can be captured, and honor kills grant reputation.
RTS Race and Class Mix: Night Elves join the Alliance, Goblins join the Horde, and Humans can be Hunters, while Undead lose Priests and Gnomes lose Warriors.
Reworked Racials: Dwarf Stoneform also raises all magic resistances, as it did for the Mountain King in Warcraft III, and Undead are vulnerable to Paladin and Priest spells and immune to Fear and Charm, while Polymorph still works on them.
Reworked Specs: Holy Priest plays as ranged DPS, Hunters have a melee spec, and the Arcane tree for Mages is strengthened.
Arcane Instability: At low mana an Arcane Mage can lose control and summon a Felhunter from the Twisting Nether that attacks the mage, burns mana and interrupts spellcasting.
Separate Male and Female Stats: Female characters deal less melee damage and generate less threat but gain bonuses to spellcasting.
