Server Overview

Project Legacy is an independently developed Vanilla+ World of Warcraft server built on the 1.12 client, designed to expand on classic content without changing the original level cap or core game feel. The project adds hundreds of new lore-friendly quests in underused zones, a custom Guardian of Hyjal world boss encounter, and cross-faction grouping so Horde and Alliance players can group, guild, raid, and trade together. Beyond new content, it reworks several underperforming class specializations, including Retribution, Protection, Survival, Shadow, Elemental, and Balance, to make more playstyles viable without abandoning Vanilla's original class identity. The server opened its Open Beta on July 17, 2026 and has already crossed 1,000 registered accounts.

Project Legacy runs on the 1.12 Vanilla WoW client with an independent Vanilla+ ruleset rather than a stock classic experience.

Features

Prestige Mode: At level 60, players can reset to level 1 while keeping their character's equipment, gold, riding, and major unlocks, then earn permanent cosmetic rewards across multiple prestige ranks.
Lorewalker Mode: An optional slower leveling mode with reduced experience gain and milestone rewards for players who want a longer leveling journey.
Class Improvements: Retribution, Protection, Survival, Shadow, Elemental, and Balance specializations receive new tools and talent updates aimed at making weak playstyles viable.
Guardian of Hyjal: A custom level 60 world boss with its own mechanics.
Cross-Faction Play: Horde and Alliance players can share groups, guilds, raids, trading, and communication.
New Quest Content: Hundreds of new lore-friendly quests have been added in zones that see little use in stock Vanilla.
Dual Specialization: Players can unlock a second talent specialization starting at level 40.

Promising new approach

I've been playing the server for a few days now and I must say it's really nice to be party of the early starting community. With the plans the administration has for it, this could be the new BiS thing! Cool peeps, small community where you actually get to know the folks and really balanced changes, patches with well-thought-out modifications, preserving vanilla quality and NOT THAT MANY GNOMES, YET! There's also a war mode, so PvP is also going to be a thing.
