SWG Nexus
Type: Star Wars Galaxies Private Server
Website: swgnexus.com
Tagline: SWG Nexus Is The Future, Not The Echo.
Server Overview
Nexus is a player-driven Star Wars Galaxies server built by players, for players, and it opens by ruling out the two positions most SWG servers take. It is not Pre-CU and it is not NGE. Nexus is Post-NGE, and the team frames that as a starting point rather than as a destination: the excess has been stripped away to focus on what made SWG unforgettable, which they name as freedom, creativity, deep systems and a thriving community. The stated method is to take the best parts of every era, the depth and freedom of Pre-CU, the refined systems of CU, and the expansive content and responsive combat edge of NGE, and then push the game forward with new mechanics, features and player-driven innovation. The team's own summary is that Nexus is not recreating SWG's past but building its future.
Era & Ruleset
Era: Post-NGE
Design: Player-driven, drawing on Pre-CU, CU and NGE systems
Direction: New mechanics and features beyond any single retail era
Features
Post-NGE base: The server starts from the Post-NGE state rather than rolling back to a preserved era, which is what separates it from most of the SWG scene.
Cross-era systems: Pre-CU depth, CU system refinements and NGE combat responsiveness are combined rather than one era being picked whole.
Player-driven development: The team describes the server as built by players for players, with player innovation as an explicit part of the roadmap.
New mechanics beyond retail: The stated goal is forward development, adding systems that were never in any live version of the game.
Population
Active Players: 68 peak online in the last 24 hours

Built for Players by Players
SWG: Nexus is still very new with only launching live about a month ago. It has shown the sweat and tears put into the gameplay and mechanics by the developing team and the countless hours to make the game enjoyable again. One of the best servers so far I have played on. Give it a chance to see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

The most unique take on the classic formula
As an old Pre-CU enjoyer, I have kept my eyes on the number of server projects that have come about over the years, looking to recapture that magical time I spent all of 2004 playing SWG. Where many of these attempts have made what I have seen as questionable or outright unappealing changes, or a disregard for how gaming has changed in 20 years and where adaptations are necessary, SWG Nexus stands alone as the first server to truly hold my attention. The dev team have set an ambitious goal; Take the best parts of each Era, and then develop the game for the future, a "Post-NGE" era. Blending the more responsive and nuanced combat systems of the CU and NGE, with the original Pre-CU Professions system in lieu of set classes, Nexus has created a satisfying day-to-day gameplay loop for each role on the server. Careful attention has been paid to rebalance and adjust capabilities and features so that no matter what type of character you're itching to play, there is a place for you on NEXUS!
