MapleHorizons is a v83 MapleStory server, which puts it in the pre-Big Bang window that most classic MapleStory players mean when they say they want the old game back. The team's approach is to leave that gameplay alone and fix the things around it: an auto-patching launcher, an HD client, working quests, and quality-of-life systems that remove chores rather than remove content. The experience rate is progressive rather than flat, so early levels move quickly and the curve tightens as characters advance instead of the whole game being uniformly multiplied. Two of the design decisions do real work on the server's identity. There is no HP washing, which removes the single biggest reason classic MapleStory players felt forced to plan a character around a spreadsheet, and the team explicitly rules out MuleStory and MageStory, meaning the server does not expect you to run a farm of side accounts or default every build to a mage.

No HP washing: The washing mechanic is removed, so characters are built on their class rather than on an AP allocation plan made at level 1.
