PW Online is a Perfect World private server built on the classic 1.3.6 client, the version from before the expansions changed the shape of the game, with the quest content backported from 1.5.3 on top of it. That combination is the whole pitch: the world, the classes and the feel are the classic ones, but there is far more to do in them than 1.3.6 originally shipped with. Three races are playable.

The PvP rules are staged by level rather than being uniform. Levels 1 to 30 are a safe PvE window where new characters can learn the game without being killed by anyone, and open PK switches on from level 30, at which point the world becomes contested. Weekly Territory Wars sit at the top of that as the organised guild competition.

The monetisation position is that there is no pay to win, and the server backs it by handing out gold, the premium currency, free every day rather than only selling it. Drops are boosted over the 1.3.6 baseline, and the fashion and decoration catalogues have been expanded. An English language site is maintained alongside the main one, so international players are not left translating the client themselves.

Classic 1.3.6 Client: The server runs the pre expansion client, which is the version most Perfect World veterans mean by classic.
1.5.3 Quest Content: Quests from the later 1.5.3 build have been backported, so there is more to do than the 1.3.6 original offered.
Free Daily Gold: The premium currency is given out free every day rather than only sold, which is how the server backs its no pay to win claim.
Staged PvP: PvE safety through level 30 followed by open PK afterwards, so new characters get a protected learning window.
Weekly Territory Wars: Guild versus guild territory war runs on a weekly cycle.
Boosted Drops: Drop rates are raised over the 1.3.6 baseline.
Expanded Fashion and Decor: The cosmetic and housing decoration catalogues have been extended past the original set.
English Site: An English language site is maintained alongside the main one for international players.
