Most Popular RuneScape Private Servers in 2026 — Ranked by Player Count

Every RSPS lister will tell you their favorite server is the "best." That's not what this list is. We don't care about your nostalgia for a 2014 spawn server that runs on three potato instances. We care about where the actual people are right now.

The RSPS scene is splintered: OSRS-faithful eco servers competing for the 2007scape purist crowd, custom 317s with anime-themed bosses and 200x rates, dedicated spawn-PK servers where you log in pre-geared at Edgeville and start dropping ::yell callouts, and Pre-EoC 718 economies trying to keep RS3-flavored content alive. They don't share players evenly, and they don't share scenes. The Java client legacy means the same person who plays Old School on the official servers will refuse to touch a custom server, and a custom RSPS hardcore won't last 20 minutes on an eco grind.

We track 60 RuneScape private servers in real time using live Discord activity — not "10,000 players online" lies on a banner from 2019. These are the worlds that actually pop in May 2026.

The numbers:

  • Total players tracked online: 9,770+
  • Servers with 1,000+ online: 3
  • Servers with 100+ online: 20

Here's where the Wilderness is actually contested.

1. Alora — 1,235 Online

The most populated RSPS in 2026 is a fully OSRS-style economy server, not a custom or spawn world. Alora has been live since 2016, runs both 2007 mode and 2010 mode, and ships native iOS and Android clients with full RuneLite plugin support — which is a huge piece of why it dominates. With 9,397 Discord members and consistently 1,200+ online, it's the closest thing the RSPS scene has to a "main" server right now.

Why it's so popular: Eco progression that mirrors the OSRS curve, working raids (Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood), Ironman modes done properly, and a mobile client that actually works. Long-running servers earn trust, and Alora has a decade of it.

  • Type: OSRS Eco (PvM / Ironman / Raids)
  • Peak Online: 1,235
  • Community Size: 9,397 members
  • Rates: Economy (balanced OSRS-style)

2. Roatpkz — 1,216 Online

Almost dead-tied with Alora at the top, Roatpkz is the polar opposite of an eco server. This is pure PvP — pre-geared, Edgeville-style, no skilling, no grinding, just gear up and fight. 11,026 Discord members make it the largest community on this list by raw membership, and 1,216 online proves that the dedicated PKing crowd is still alive and well in 2026.

Why it's so popular: It's the spiritual home of the staking and tournament PVP scene. If you want hybridding, NHing, and Wilderness fights without spending 80 hours grinding gear first, Roatpkz is built for exactly that.

  • Type: PvP / Pre-Geared (317)
  • Peak Online: 1,216
  • Community Size: 11,026 members
  • Rates: Pre-geared (instant kits)

3. Rxps — 1,145 Online

The third server cracking the 1,000-online threshold and the highest-rated semi-custom 317 economy on the list. Rxps mixes OSRS-faithful skilling and bossing with custom content layered on top — the kind of long-running middle-ground RSPS where you can do serious eco grinding without being on a strict 2007scape clone. 6,360 Discord members and 1,145 online say the formula is working.

Why it's so popular: It threads a needle a lot of servers miss — enough custom content to feel fresh, but enough eco discipline that the economy doesn't collapse. PvM, skilling, and bossing are the core loop.

  • Type: Semi-Custom Economy (317)
  • Peak Online: 1,145
  • Community Size: 6,360 members
  • Rates: Economy

4. Spawnpk — 923 Online

The other PvP heavyweight. Spawnpk runs a hybrid OSRS / custom revision and pulls 923 concurrent players, almost all of them there for fights. The whole loop is built around instant-gear loadouts, NH (no honor) PKing, and constant tournaments. Edgeville is busy 24/7 — the kind of place where the chat is full of 1v1 me callouts and ::yell is more entertaining than any custom event.

Why it's so popular: Tournaments are frequent, hybridding is well-tuned, and the international scene shows up consistently. If Roatpkz feels too sweaty, Spawnpk has a slightly more casual entry point with similar PvP depth.

  • Type: Spawn / PvP (OSRS + Custom)
  • Peak Online: 923
  • Community Size: 8,707 members
  • Rates: Spawn (instant items via loadout)

5. Redemptionrsps — 814 Online

Redemption is a heavily-customized OSRS-flavored server with HD graphics, custom raids, custom bosses, and weekly content updates. 5,419 Discord members and 814 online make it the largest pure-custom server on the list. Mobile clients on iOS and Android, working Ironman mode, and a long-running track record all combine to keep numbers high.

Why it's so popular: Weekly updates are rare in the RSPS scene, and players reward servers that actually ship content. Custom raids and bosses mean the meta isn't solved on day one, which keeps the long-tail population engaged.

  • Type: Custom OSRS (PvM / Ironman / Raids)
  • Peak Online: 814
  • Community Size: 5,419 members
  • Rates: Custom (20-30x)

6. BattleScape — 511 Online

BattleScape is one of the rare servers that genuinely tries to do everything — OSRS-standard rates, raids including Inferno, working Grand Exchange, Revenants, Ironman, and a tournament PvP layer on top. 5,566 Discord members and 511 online put it in the upper tier of mid-population servers, and the hybrid revision (498 / 474 / OSRS) lets it pull from multiple eras of the playerbase.

Why it's so popular: Full-feature server without picking a single niche. If you want eco PvM with PvP on the side, or vice versa, BattleScape has both running simultaneously instead of forcing the choice.

  • Type: OSRS Standard (PvM / PvP / Raids)
  • Peak Online: 511
  • Community Size: 5,566 members
  • Rates: OSRS Standard

7. Velheim — 366 Online

Velheim is the largest Pre-EoC / RS3-content server on the list and the highest-population 718 RSPS in 2026. With seven different XP rate modes (x2 to x200), full economy, working Ironman, and a no-pay-to-win philosophy, it serves the part of the RuneScape audience that misses 2010-2012 era content — Dungeoneering, the post-2007 skill tree, the pre-EoC combat model. 1,422 Discord members and 366 online, which is impressive for a niche revision.

Why it's so popular: It's basically the only serious option for players who want RS3-flavored content without the EoC combat system. Multiple rate modes mean both casual and hardcore players can find a comfortable XP grind.

  • Type: Pre-EoC / 718 (Eco / PvM / Ironman)
  • Peak Online: 366
  • Community Size: 1,422 members
  • Rates: x2-x200 XP (7 modes)

8. MythX — 365 Online

A newer 317 / Pre-EoC custom server that exploded onto the scene with 3,342 Discord members and 365 online. MythX is built around easy progression, fast raids, and an active staff that pushes content updates regularly. Achievements, custom bossing, gambling, and Ironman are all in. The "New" tag matters here — fresh servers tend to peak hard early before settling, but MythX is still riding the launch wave.

Why it's so popular: Fresh economy, fast progression, and active development. Players who missed the early days of older servers can get the "first to mid-game" feeling on a new launch.

  • Type: Custom 317 / Pre-EoC (PvM / Bossing / Ironman)
  • Peak Online: 365
  • Community Size: 3,342 members
  • Rates: Custom (easy progression, fast raids)

9. Galaxyrealm — 294 Online

Galaxyrealm is a hybrid revision (667 + 317) custom server that leans heavily into custom bosses and PvM content. With 2,045 Discord members and 294 online, it's a solid tier-2 RSPS that hasn't broken into the top 5 but maintains a stable, active population. The hybrid revision is unusual — most servers commit to one — but it lets Galaxyrealm pull both Pre-EoC content and OSRS-style mechanics.

Why it's so popular: Custom-content density. Players who've solved the standard OSRS bossing meta come here for fights they haven't already done a thousand times.

  • Type: Custom Hybrid (667 / 317, PvM / Bossing)
  • Peak Online: 294
  • Community Size: 2,045 members
  • Rates: Custom XP

Server Link: Browse Galaxyrealm on Nostalgic.gg

10. Snowrsps — 282 Online

Closing out the top 10, Snowrsps is a 317 custom server with a heavy F2P-friendly hook (300% drop rates, auto-loot) and themed content drawn from outside the RuneScape universe — Dragon Ball Z, gambling minigames, and mobile play. 2,734 Discord members and 282 online. It's the kind of server people log into when they want lower-friction fun, not eco grinding.

Why it's so popular: F2P access plus high drop rates plus mobile support is a casual on-ramp. Not everyone wants to grind for 200 hours; Snowrsps respects that.

  • Type: Custom 317 (F2P / Mobile / PvM)
  • Peak Online: 282
  • Community Size: 2,734 members
  • Rates: 300% Drop

How to Choose Your RSPS in 2026

Population is one filter. Fit is another. Here's how to narrow it:

Eco vs. Spawn

  • Eco servers (Alora, Rxps, Velheim, BattleScape) — you start with nothing. Grind skills, kill bosses, build wealth. The economy is real, items have value, and progression matters. This is what most OSRS players actually want, even if they don't say it.
  • Spawn / pre-geared servers (Roatpkz, Spawnpk) — you log in, hit a command, and you're in BIS gear for PvP. No grinding. Pure fights. If you don't care about progression, this is the fastest path to the part you actually like.

OSRS-faithful vs. Custom

  • OSRS-faithful (Alora, BattleScape) — content mirrors live OSRS as closely as possible. Same drops, same bosses, same combat tuning. Best for the 2007scape purist who's burned out on official servers.
  • Custom (Redemption, MythX, Galaxyrealm, Snowrsps) — custom bosses, custom items, custom raids, custom zones. Higher rates, more variety, but the trade-off is no transferable skill from official OSRS — you're learning a new game.

PvP vs. PvM

  • PvP focus (Roatpkz, Spawnpk) — Wilderness fights, hybridding, NHing, tournaments. Most of the players are there for combat against other players, not bosses.
  • PvM focus (Alora, Redemption, MythX) — Inferno, raids, slayer, bossing. The Wilderness might exist but it's not the point.
  • Hybrid (BattleScape) — both running in parallel; you choose the loop on any given session.

Donation balance The least-fun part of RSPS shopping. Watch for "no-p2w" tags (Velheim is explicit about this) versus servers where donator zones, donator weapons, and donator drop boosts trivialize content. The donation page is more honest than the front page — read it before you commit.

Why Population Matters in RSPS Specifically

A dead RSPS isn't just lonely — it's broken. The economy collapses when there's no one to trade with. The PvP scene dies when there's no one to fight. Group bossing requires groups. The Wilderness is empty without rivals.

Every server on this top 10 list crosses the threshold where the core loop actually works. Alora's Grand Exchange has bids. Roatpkz's tournaments fill. Rxps's market has price discovery. That's not true for the long tail of 50-online servers, no matter how good the scripting is.

Pick a server with enough people to make the multiplayer parts of RuneScape actually multiplayer.

How We Track Population

All player counts on Nostalgic.gg come from live Discord activity data, not self-reported stats from server owners. We check Discord member counts and online presence across 60 RSPS daily. The numbers above reflect real activity, not a banner that hasn't been updated since 2021.
